Meet Eric

Hello! My name is Eric, and I am a sophomore at Oregon Episcopal School. The doctors and dentists in my life have inspired me and embedded the value of community service in my heart, like Dr. Patty, with whom I am fortunate to be partnering. Additionally, I am an active competitive soccer player, and it is my favorite sport. I currently play above on the 07/08 Oregon Surf MLS Next 2 team, the LYS 09B Red 1, and on OES’s Boys Varsity Soccer team since my high school freshman year, and I am a current co-captain. Combining my passion for serving the community and soccer, I am so glad for the opportunity to be a part of this mission. 

Since my elementary school years, soccer has been my favorite sport, and some of my favorite childhood memories and friends were made on the pitch. However, when COVID disrupted life for everybody, I was not able to participate in the sport I loved. I felt very lonely during that two-year gap; everything was online, and it was hard to connect with my friends. Especially after moving to a new school district for middle school after COVID, the transition was very difficult, and I was nervous, as I had no friends, and was very lonely due to the pandemic. However, once I joined the soccer team at school, everything changed. I made new friends, and they were able to connect me to various competitive clubs to try out. Since then, my soccer journey was kickstarted and the loneliness vanished. 

Although these memories seem so distant in the past, I know I would not be where I am if not for soccer. Thus, I am passionate about giving back to the soccer community, which welcomed me 5 years ago. Especially in helping those coming from an immigrant background like mine access options and paths in their journey through soccer. I am excited to dedicate myself to this cause and share my passion with those in need.
